Future State

While at Herman Miller I developed the Future State program to facilitate a conversation between Herman Miller and the next generation of interior designers about the future of workplace design. Each event served as a forum for discussion, critical exchange, and thinking through making – ultimately yielding insights, imagery, and objects that were memorialized annually in a Future State Folio.

My team collaborated with Chicago-based creative agency Someoddpilot to develop Future State as a sub-brand of Herman Miller with a bespoke look and feel that called to mind the chaos of a designer’s creative process. The result was a custom character set inspired by architectural stencils that helped to capture the spirit of the event and sketchy illustrations to represent ideas as works-in-progress.
